Stephen is a Chartered Accountant as well as a member of New Zealand Institute of Primary Industry Management and a director of McConnell Stafford-Bush & Associates. He has been operating his own businesses since 1997 and has over 30 years of experience in Chartered Accountancy. He has been a member of the Primary Sector Committee (now Regional Advisory Group) of The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, the last 7 years as Chairman, so is involved in crucial decisions affecting the rural sector at a national level.
This experience enables Stephen to have an in-depth and detailed understanding of the rural sector as well as a strong grounding and knowledge of the business sector. He understands the prevailing conditions currently affecting business owners and operators, both farmers and non-farmers alike. Stephen is experienced in business planning, forecasting, business purchase due diligence, preparation for and assistance with the sale of businesses, profit improvement strategies, succession planning, governance and one off projects, as well as the usual accounting and taxation issues. Stephen's role is to perform the high level services clients need, as well as the co-ordination of the firm's resources to ensure new clients receive the resources and client services that are relevant to their needs.
